Job summary

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine seeks an Associate Director, Lab Automation & Intelligent Orchestration to lead the next-gen AI-native automation platforms on-site in Spring House, PA, with up to 10% travel. You will design scalable platforms, drive learning cycles, and enable AI-driven drug discovery.

The role requires expertise in automation, AI orchestration, and cross-functional leadership within a matrixed organization, aiming to accelerate discovery and ensure high-quality data

Qualifications

• Ph.D., M.S., or equivalent in Engineering, Bioengineering, CS, Systems Engineering, Biology or related field.
• At least 6 years developing and scaling laboratory automation or AI-enabled platforms in drug discovery.
• Deep knowledge of lab automation, robotics, instrument integration, and workflow engineering.
• Experience translating technologies into scalable discovery platforms and leading technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Laboratory Automation Platform Strategy: set roadmaps and investment priorities for AI-native platforms.
• Scale human-relevant biology and AI-driven learning with automated platforms for multimodal data.
• Strategic partnership and scientific leadership across biology, data science, informatics, and eng.
• People leadership: develop automation engineers, scientists, and technical specialists.
