Job summary
Subway is seeking a Director, Guest Engineering to lead the full guest-facing digital stack—mobile, web, kiosk, and middleware—across four cross-functional pods. Reporting to the VP of Guest Engineering, this role directs end-to-end delivery with autonomy in a high-stakes consumer environment.
You will shape architecture, grow a 20+ engineer organization, and drive AI-assisted development while partnering with product, finance, HR, and partner teams to meet ambitious roadmaps and reliability
Qualifications
- 10+ years of software engineering experience
- 4+ years in director or senior management roles
- Experience delivering high-traffic consumer platforms
- Experience leading multi-team organizations
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership across all guest-facing surfaces and API platform
- Lead and retain Sr. Development Managers, Tech Leads, and Solution Architects
- Define quarterly roadmap commitments with cross-functional stakeholders
- Own production operations and platform reliability, set on-call standards
- Champion AI-assisted development and embed AI into practices
- Drive hiring, onboarding, and headcount planning across pods
