Job summary

Hims & Hers is seeking a Director of Engineering for Commerce to own end-to-end systems spanning catalog, pricing, promotions, payments, and checkout. You‘ll lead multiple teams, set technical vision, and partner with product, design, data, finance, Pharmacy, Care, and operations to deliver a fast, reliable commerce experience.

You will build scalable, secure systems, drive AI-first engineering, and align initiatives with business goals, ensuring uptime and trust across millions of members.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience, with 5+ years leading multiple teams or organizations in high-growth environments.
• Proven success leading cross-functional product engineering teams and owning end-to-end consumer experiences.
• Experience in health tech, e-commerce, or subscription-based platforms preferred.
• Strong technical background with modern web and service architectures (Node.js, GraphQL, React, TypeScript, AWS, Kubernetes).
• Expertise in building scalable, secure, and compliant systems handling clinical or health-related data.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and inspire a team of engineers, fostering innovation and accountability.
• Serve as the single engineering DRI for Commerce across catalog, pricing, promotions, payments, and checkout.
• Drive the next-generation commerce platform and evolve the catalog domain model.
• Define and deliver the engineering roadmap with product and design.
• Champion API-based integration over cross-domain direct DB access.
• Lead the team’s transition to an AI-first engineering culture and spec-driven development.
• Scale architecture with long-term growth in mind, ensuring reliability and performance.
• Oversee platform architecture for scalability, security, and compliance, especially for payments.
• Drive alignment with data and analytics to improve pricing, promotions, and checkout.
