Job summary

Headspace is seeking a Director, AI Architect to own the technical vision for AI-first service transformation across its product and platform. You will design systems, patterns, and practices embedding intelligence at scale, reporting to the Chief Product & Engineering Officer.

You will lead cross-functional teams in applied research, ML science, and platform engineering, driving responsible AI, governance, and scalable deployment, while shaping Headspace's AI roadmap and external partnerships.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering with 4+ years delivering production AI/ML at scale.
• Expert in modern AI architectures: LLMs, RAG, embeddings, real-time inference.
• Ability to translate business challenges into technical roadmaps.
• Experience with cloud-native AI infrastructure and MLOps.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead AI architecture strategy across Headspace's portfolio.
• Architect end-to-end AI systems with reliability and safety.
• Collaborate with executive team, product leadership, and engineers to align AI with company goals.
• Author company-wide specs establishing AI design principles and guardrails.
• Mentor engineers and promote responsible AI practices across the org.
• Serve as Headspace's internal and external AI thought leader.
