Job summary

Children's Aid in New York, NY seeks a School Age Program Director to oversee After-School and all Summer Day Camp programs at the East Harlem Center @ Lexington Academy. This role manages program activities, directs staff, and aligns with agency goals while ensuring data input for DYCD and CSIS databases.

The position requires a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a related field, strong supervisory and communication skills, and the ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in social work, Education, Counseling, Psychology or related field preferred
• 5 Years of experience working with school age Youth and /or families in community-based programs
• Supervisory Skills & Experience
• Knowledge of youth development principles
• Crisis/Emergency Management Skills
• Flexible & able to adapt
• Ability to interface with diverse youth and staff populations
• Excellent communication Skills (written & verbal)
• Good Command of English Language, Bilingual/English Spanish is a plus
• Working Knowledge of the Computer System & Data Base Operations
• Ability to Travel
• Ability to workdays, evenings, weekends and holiday

Responsibilities

• Management of all School Age youth, programs & services: After‑School programs and all Summer Day Camp programs
• Development, Plan & Implement quality & innovative youth programming that employs youth development principals & practices
• Plan, schedule educational and fun trips to expose youth to new experiences that foster learning and academic success
• Obtain all related licenses required to operate School Age programs within compliance and agency guidelines
• Perform Youth Outreach
• Perform Data Input
• Completes all monthly and quarterly reports for Agency, Contract Agencies and funding sources including incident and accident reporting
• Create, organize and maintain confidential Client & Staff files
• Interview, Hire, Supervise & Evaluate School Age staff and summer camp program staff
• Facilitate staff development workshops on educational enrichment initiatives for CAS After‑School programs.
• Conducts & Coordinates staff orientations, Meetings & Trainings.
• Organize and implement a calendar program, events, workshops, and community service project based on educational themes and project based learning activities and events.
• Be a positive role model for children and serve as a positive role model for staff and parents
• Complete and submit weekly schedules, reports and all other required documentation
• Interact engage and maintain open communication with parents to enable a better understanding of youth needs and how to manage the child/children.
• Work collaboratively with other agency youth programs and community partners
• All other duties as required, assigned and necessary to carry out job functions
