Job summary

Pacific Life seeks a Director & Actuary to lead enterprise actuarial initiatives, partnering with senior leaders across Modeling, ALM, Valuation, Governance, and Reporting. This on-site 4 days/week role includes relocation assistance for candidates near Newport Beach, Omaha, or Charlotte.

The candidate will own scope and outcomes, drive priority initiatives, and manage a team while delivering strategic insights to guide high-stakes decisions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in life insurance or reinsurance.
• Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) or equivalent qualification.
• Deep knowledge of actuarial reporting frameworks.
• Experience as product owner, delivery lead, or technical lead on project work.
• Ability to simplify complex topics for senior leaders and non-actuaries.
• Strong planning, prioritization and delivery in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience collaborating with external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Serve as product owner and lead for enterprise actuarial initiatives across the project lifecycle.
• Lead VM-22 implementation with enterprise stakeholders.
• Oversee complex actuarial transformations, governance frameworks, and large-scale cross-functional programs.
• Provide hands-on technical and strategic leadership to unblock progress.
• Lead a team of 3+ individuals balancing project work and growth.
