Job summary

Pacific Life is seeking an Actuary & Director, Model Risk Management with 8+ years of actuarial experience in Life products to lead second-line model oversight. You will collaborate with business leaders, risk committees, and model developers to ensure models are fit for purpose and governed robustly.

The role reports to the VP and offers broad visibility across Pacific Life's products and functions, with on-site work four days a week and relocation assistance if needed.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of actuarial experience with an FSA designation.
• Deep experience in Life products: modeling, financial reporting, forecasting, pricing, or economic valuation.
• Ability to challenge technical work and influence senior leaders and technical teams.
• Strong communication skills to explain complex modeling in business terms.
• Experience reviewing, validating, developing, or testing complex actuarial models.

Responsibilities

• Lead second-line model risk oversight for Life insurance models across reporting, development, forecasting, and related uses.
• Provide expert guidance on modeling techniques and governance practices.
• Collaborate with cross-domain experts to advance Pacific Life's model risk framework.
• Review models, raise recommendations, and influence senior leaders and risk committees.
• Stay current on emerging practices, techniques, technologies, and regulatory developments.
