Job summary

Pacific Life is seeking an Actuary & Director to join our Enterprise Reinsurance team. This on-site role will lead major reinsurance activities and partner with external reinsurers and internal stakeholders to shape strategy, pricing, and solutions across the enterprise.

Based in Newport Beach, Omaha, or Charlotte, the role offers relocation assistance and a collaborative environment to influence important reinsurance decisions and drive long-term value for the company.

Qualifications

• Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) or Career Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation.
• 10+ years of life insurance, annuity, and/or reinsurance experience.
• Strong influencing and negotiation skills and ability to work with different stakeholder groups.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
• Strategic, technical, and analytical mindset.
• Effective project management with ability to move several projects forward in parallel.
• Ability to lead multiple projects and meet tight deadlines with prioritization.

Responsibilities

• Serve as key business development contact with external reinsurance relationships and senior leadership.
• Manage reinsurance relationships and communication for new business and in-force discussions.
• Collaborate with Product Design, Pricing, Underwriting, Risk, and other functions to engage the Reinsurance Team.
• Lead analysis and execution of new reinsurance arrangements aligning with enterprise strategy.
• Negotiate rates/structures and contract terms with reinsurers; implement treaties.
• Model and analyze complex reinsurance transactions and advise on financial impact.
• Oversee in-force programs; assess historical and projected performance and partnerships implications.
• Explain accounting impacts to legal, tax, and accounting teams across GAAP, Statutory, Bermuda.
