Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL is seeking an experienced accounting leader to direct department activities and resources within General Finance. The role reports to leadership, manages daily financial operations, and supports institutional financial planning from the Daniel Building location, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, has at least six years of experience with leadership, and may have a Master's degree.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and a minimum of six (6) years of related experience required.
• Four (4) years of leadership experience preferred.
• Master's degree in a related field preferred.

• Directs accounting activities and resources.
• Supervises preparation of corporate financial statements, reports and audits and reviews for accuracy.
• Monitors development of data and entries to general ledger, accounts payable and payroll.
• Performs detailed analysis of financial information. Analyzes projections and details variances. Assists management with understanding and analyzing financial reports and developing cost savings measures.
• Coordinates preparation and submission of quarterly reporting. Ensures compliance with internal financial requirements as well as regulatory requirements.

Job Description

• Develops, implements and maintains general accounting systems and controls ensuring best practice standards across the institution and in line with corporate guidance.

Licenses / Certifications / Registrations

• Accountant licensure required relevant to state in which work is performed preferred.
