Job summary

Newman Construction is seeking a Directional Drill Operator in Utah to safely operate horizontal directional drilling machinery and install underground utilities, following safety policies and project requirements. The role requires 1+ year of experience, a CDL Class A, the ability to lift 50-100 lbs, and a willingness to pass background and drug screenings.

You will read plans, mark utilities, and support crew while maintaining equipment.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent is required.
CDL Class A license is required.
1+ year of experience operating directional drills in utility construction or related field.
Ability to lift 50-100 lbs and perform repetitive outdoor work in all weather.
Willingness to undergo background and drug screening.
Understanding of safety requirements and proper use of PPE.

Responsibilities

Operate directional drill and support equipment in accordance with safety and industry standards.
Read and interpret project plans, work orders, and utility locate markings.
Identify and avoid existing underground utilities; potholing and verification as required.
Assist in site setup, cleanup, and restoration of disturbed areas.
Perform routine maintenance on equipment and report any malfunctions.
Comply with all DOT, OSHA, and company regulations and procedures.
Participate in safety meetings and required training sessions.
Report all incidents, accidents, or hazards immediately to the supervisor.
Occasionally support other crew duties as necessary to complete projects.
