Job summary

TelCom Construction, LLC in Marion, IA, is seeking a Telecom Drill Bores Operator to operate drill equipment for installing underground telecommunications cables and infrastructure.

You will determine bore paths, locate utilities, and perform site setup and equipment maintenance, while complying with safety standards and handling mud mixing systems. The role requires readiness to work in all weather conditions, with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older
• Authorization to work in the United States for this company
• High School Diploma or GED or relevant work experience
• Valid Class A Commercial driver's license with tanker endorsement or willingness to obtain it
• Experience with drilling equipment, including capabilities, limitations, and drill setup/design processes

Responsibilities

• Determine bore path and locate utilities
• Safely operate and control all necessary equipment to complete assigned tasks
• Verify existing utilities by potholing to determine bore path
• Utilize “Mud” mixing systems
• Develop and maintain a bore schedule
• Responsible for site set-up, clean-up, and equipment maintenance
• Perform work in all weather conditions
• Other duties as assigned

What you’ll do

• Determine bore path and locate utilities
• Safely operate and control all necessary equipment to complete assigned tasks

What you’ll need

• To be 18 years of age or older
• Authorization to work in the United States for this company
• High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
• Valid state driver's license (cannot be Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
• Valid Class A Commercial driver's license with tanker endorsement or willingness to obtain it
• Experience with drilling equipment, including their capabilities, limitations, and drill setup and design processes

Physical abilities & exposures

• Routinely: work with arms above shoulder level, in confined space and remote locations, operate vehicle and heavy machinery, squeeze, fine hand motion, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs and lift greater than 55 pounds
• Occasionally: use ladder, keyboard and mouse
