Job summary

MasTec Utility Services is seeking a Directional Drill Operator/Locator to safely operate directional drilling equipment and locate drill heads to manage elevation changes. This role supports the Line team and collaborates with department personnel.

Qualifications include a High School diploma or equivalent, a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience, and a valid CDL Class A with tanker endorsement. OSHA 10 certification is required, with preferred 3+ years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate the drill rig efficiently.
• Prepare job and drill for safe shot execution.
• Pothole utilities that may be crossed during bore.
• Verify existing utilities.
• Fill water tanks and mix mud according to ground conditions.
• Locate drill head to avoid hitting utilities at correct depth.
• Hook up swivel, reamer, and pipe for bore operations.
• Plan bore path by locating utilities and obstacles.
• Pull back product with correct hole opener and mud mix.
• Inspect and maintain drill equipment and mixing unit.
