Job summary

GridSource is seeking a Directional Drill Operator/Locator for work in Grand Couteau, LA, performing drilling and pullback of conduits for fiber networks. The role involves reading prints, coordinating with supervisors and crew, and adhering to safety procedures.

The work spans rural and metro areas under master service agreements with telecom carriers and utilities. Ideal candidates will have experience operating drilling and locating equipment, be able to work outdoors year-round, and

What We’re Looking For

Work will consists of day-to-day drilling and pullback of various sized conduits for outside plant fiber networks. Most of the work is performed under master service agreements with telecom carriers and regional utilities. The scope of work consists of new builds, maintenance, and restoration in rural and metro areas and the scope of work varies between each job.

What you will need:

• Locate underground utilities and monitor locating process during drilling
• Read prints and demonstrate good judgement in the field
• Work as a team in tandem with supervisor, manager, and other crew members
• Perform all duties adhering to company safety procedures and policies
• Operating drill and/or locating equipment: 3 years
• Operating Ditch Witch and Vermeer Drilling equipment (JT5 / D10x15): 2 years
• Heavy Equipment Operator WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Required to work within limited confines, such as crawl spaces, as needed.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
• The employee must be able to work in an outdoor environment year around in all weather conditions.
• The employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock, radiation, and vibration.
