Job summary

Scioto Trails is hiring a Direct Support Team Lead for a residential home in Piketon, Ohio. The role leads Direct Support Professionals to support individuals with developmental disabilities and to promote daily living skills.

You will supervise care, ensure health and safety, manage scheduling, document services, and collaborate with Case Managers and leadership to meet program goals. Strong communication, crisis intervention, and training skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• High school diploma (or equivalent) and valid driver’s license.
• 1 year of experience with individuals with developmental disabilities (DD); 2 years preferred.
• Willing to obtain and maintain Medication Certification and related credentials.

Do you have experience working with individuals diagnosed with developmental disabilities? Scioto Trails/Advancing Abilities is an agency supporting people with disabilities.

We have a current opening for a Direct Support Team Lead in a residential home located in Piketon, Ohio!

Essential Functions

1. Ensure family style dining and active treatment is occurring at all times by DSP's in homes. Provide direction to DSP's on how interact with our individuals in order to enhance skill building and independence in areas such as cooking, housekeeping, hygienic practices, and social interaction.
2. Ensure health and safety of individuals by monitoring and participating in activities, supervising appropriate diet and medications, and intervening in crisis situations.
3. Document all services performed and assure Direct Support Professionals document according to ISP and departmental procedures. Ensure DSP's utilize ISPs to provide designated services at the required frequencies including documenting services provided on each shift and writing incident reports for any unusual activity.
4. Observe/direct Direct Support Professionals in the implementation of services needed according to the ISP. Orient, supervise, provide ongoing feedback, evaluate and report any disciplinary action needs when necessary.
5. Routinely observe every staff person and identify training issues. Discuss and implement plans of action for problem solving staffing issues with Case Managers and Director of Waiver Services.
6. Work in close cooperation with Director of Waiver Services, Case Managers, nursing staff, other supporting team members, as well as family support in carrying out all daily activities and objectives.
7. Follow all state, federal and local regulations and Scioto Trails' departmental policies and procedures.
8. Meet regularly with the Management to discuss issues and concerns.
9. Ensure that support documents such as work orders, accident/incident reports, and scheduling paperwork are completed as needed.
10. Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and complying with all state and federal safety and health regulations as well as company safety policy and procedures.
11. Partner with operational leadership to develop new strategies and approaches for optimizing Scheduling processes
12. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment through team building, consistent accountability, and clear communication of work standards
13. Identify opportunities for team improvement and innovation, remove barriers and resistance to change and promote constructive teamwork and communication
14. Schedule, assign, and monitor staff assignments to promote efficiency and to ensure that adequate coverage is maintained
15. Routinely present data relative to the performance of the Scheduling functions to Senior Leadership
16. Receive and respond to patient communications related to scheduling, if needed
17. Evaluate employee performance and provide appropriate guidance, professional development, and constructive feedback
18. Ensure that all schedules are completed in accordance with established standards
19. Provide exceptional leadership and strive to exceed operational and team goals
20. Provide consistent coaching and mentoring to team members
21. Perform all other duties as assigned and required.

Minimum Requirements:

Must be 21 years of age, have a high school diploma (equivalent), valid drivers license, good driving record, and personal liability automobile insurance to be insurable with company vehicles. At least (1) year experience working with individuals with DD required. Prefer two (2) years' experience working with individuals with DD. Use of discretion and independent judgment in oversight responsibilities and the delivery of services required. Must have the ability to provide therapeutic interventions during crisis situations and to effectively communicate with both verbal and non-verbal individuals. Must be willing and able to encourage and enhance involvement with guardians, families, significant others, community and other service providers. Must be willing to submit to and pass criminal background check, drug test, and reference check as required by state and federal regulations for Supported Living Services. Must take and pass Medication Certification and specific delegation and maintain certification as outlined.
