Job summary

RHA Health Services, LLC is hiring Direct Support Professionals to provide community-based support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and mental health or substance use challenges in North Carolina. The role includes assisting with daily living, community outings, advocacy, and coordinating with centers for person-centered goals.

Salary ranges from $18.00 to $20.00 per hour with a $3,000 sign-on bonus, contingent on education and experience; benefits include time

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide education on human, legal, and civil rights.
• Promote healthy living and prevent illness and accidents.
• Increase awareness of self-advocacy and support individual choice and decision-making.
• Accompany people to work, the movies, concerts, shopping, and other community outings.
• Teach independent living skills.
• Provide transportation to appointments.
• Foster positive relationships within the community.
• Promote decision-making about living, work, and social relationships.
• Assist with personal care and bathing, help around the home (laundry, cleaning, and decorating).
• Document the care you provide.
• Connect people with resources to explore opportunities in their career, education, volunteerism, etc.
• Promote effective communication.
• Assist in medication administration where state law allows.
