Job summary

The Arc of East Ascension in Gonzales, LA is seeking a Direct Support Professional to provide direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities. You will assist with daily activities, support behavior management, document incidents, and promote resident rights.

Experience with developmental disabilities is preferred, with knowledge of autism spectrum disorders a plus; first aid/CPR certification is desirable. This is a full-time, on-site role with flexible shift options.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral challenges preferred.
• Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities is a plus.
• First aid and CPR certification is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral challenges.
• Assist individuals with daily activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration.
• Implement behavior management strategies and support individuals in developing appropriate social skills.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of individuals by following established protocols and procedures.
• Document and report any incidents or changes in behavior to the appropriate supervisor.
• Promote and uphold resident rights and advocate for individuals' needs and preferences.
