Job summary

Lovingheartskansas in Topeka, KS is seeking a Day Center Direct Support Professional to assist individuals with disabilities, helping them lead independent and fulfilling lives through daily care, health monitoring, and advocacy.

The role involves supporting daily living activities, documenting progress, transporting participants to activities, and promoting choice and self-advocacy while working closely with a supportive team. Schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Qualifications

Interpersonal skills and compassionate communication required.
Experience with adults with special needs preferred.
Valid driver's license with ability to drive large van or bus.

Responsibilities

Assisting with daily living activities and personal care.
Health monitoring and reporting changes; assist with medications and health plans.
Behavioral support and skill development to promote independence.
Documentation and reporting of services and progress notes.
Advocacy to help access resources and promote community inclusion.
Activity supports including outings and events with participants.
Grooming and bathing consumers with low mobility.
Transferring from wheelchair to bed and mobility assistance.
Transporting consumers to activities in the community.
Assisting participants with daily tasks.
