Job summary

Vera French Community Mental Health Center is seeking Direct Support Staff to help our clients by teaching daily living skills, providing protective oversight, and promoting physical and emotional health. The role involves teaching clients how to ride the bus, assisting with daily activities, and transporting to appointments.

Availability is generally every other weekend, with multiple shifts including day and evening options.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED is required.
• Must have valid driver’s license with insurability.
• Ability to pass pre-employment physical with drug/alcohol screen.
• Prior experience with chronically mentally ill population preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide interventions to teach or maintain client skills.
• Provide protective oversight and supervision.
• Document services and communicate with care team for continuity.
• Work with clients on various goals.
• Transport clients to appointments and activities.
• Assist with daily activities.
• Ensure safety and foster a supportive environment.
