Job summary

Sunrise Community, Inc. in Cedar Falls, IA is seeking a Direct Support Professional to provide support, supervision and community-based care for individuals with developmental disabilities.

The role emphasizes promoting independence, safety and individualized plans in a supportive home and community setting. The position requires a valid driver's license with endorsements, background/drug screenings, and at least 3 years of driving experience.

Qualifications

• Must successfully complete required pre-employment Background and Drug Screenings.
• Must possess a valid Driver's License with endorsements and have a minimum of 3 years of driving experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent if required by work location.
• Minimum one year of experience working in the human service field if required by work location.

Responsibilities

• Identify and report suspected abuse or violations of an individual’s rights.
• Provide support, assistance and supervision to meet individuals' needs and goals.
• Ensure training, behavior and support plans are implemented and documented per regulatory requirements.
• Protect health, safety and well-being of individuals at all times.
• Create a positive environment that promotes independence and choice.
• Follow positioning schedules and use equipment per plan.
• Assist with diet, texture and equipment as needed.
• Maintain homes, outside areas and vehicles in good order.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
