YAI is hiring a Direct Support Professional at our Cypress Hills (Brooklyn) and Ozone Park/Howard Beach (Queens) residences. The role involves providing direct care, supporting ADLs, health and safety, and helping people with I/DD live, love, work, and learn in their communities.

The position offers full-time or part-time options, competitive benefits, DailyPay, tuition reimbursement, and retirement options.

Competenze

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• NYS Driver’s License required for most positions.
• For DSP 2 positions, at least 2 years’ work experience in the I/DD field.
• Good written and verbal communication.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Tuberculosis test and background check mandatory.

Mansioni

• Provide direct care services including counseling and ADLs assistance.
• Ensure health, safety and wellness of people supported.
• Support with intimate care functions.
• Build and maintain positive relationships.
• Participate in development of treatment plans.
• Crisis intervention and management.
• Complete mandatory trainings (AMAP, CPR/First Aid, SCIP-R, Defensive Driving).
• Meet and model OPWDD Core Competencies.
• Assist people in maximizing strengths and abilities via teaching and self-advocacy.
• Facilitate community integration, recreation and socialization.
• Complete documentation for compliance and billing.
• Present to a team and share knowledge.
• Take on additional tasks beyond basic DSP duties.
