Sunshine Communities in Maumee, Ohio is seeking a Direct Support Professional to provide compassionate, person-centered care to individuals with developmental disabilities. This full-time role focuses on meaningful, 1-on-1 interactions that enhance daily living and community participation.

You will assist with daily routines, mobility, meals, hygiene, and behavior support while collaborating with families and a multidisciplinary team.

Formación

• Prior direct care, caregiving, and DSP experience preferred, but not required.
• Background as STNA/CNA is considered a strong plus.
• Experience with respiratory or medical support is beneficial.

Responsabilidades

• Participate in community outings and activities with individuals served.
• Build positive relationships with individuals and their families.
• Support daily routines and meaningful life experiences.
• Assist with dressing, grooming, meal prep, and feeding.
• Provide toileting, hygiene, bathing and mobility support as needed.
• Administer medications as trained and authorized.

Preferred Experience Includes

• Direct Care Experience
• STNA (State Tested Nursing Assistant) / CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) background
• Respiratory or medical support experience

Responsibilities

To be successful as a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you should have a passion for helping others and demonstrate compassion, patience, and empathy in your daily interactions including:

• Participating in community outings and activities, including concerts, movies, swimming, shopping, and other recreational events
• Building positive relationships with individuals and their families
• Supporting daily routines and meaningful life experiences
• Assisting with dressing and grooming
• Meal preparation and feeding assistance
• Providing toileting and personal hygiene support
• Assisting with bathing and showering
• Administering medications as trained and authorized
• Providing companionship, encouragement, and emotional support
• Assisting with repositioning and mobility needs
• Maintaining a clean and safe environment, including laundry, changing linens, kitchen upkeep, and general housekeeping
• Completing documentation and other assigned duties as needed

Requirements

• Prior direct care, caregiving, and DSP experience preferred, but not required
• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Driver’s License with a good driving record
• Proof of auto insurance
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Ability to pass a criminal background check, drug screening, physical examination, and physical therapy assessment
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
