Job summary

Sunshine Communities seeks a Direct Support Professional to provide compassionate, one-on-one care to individuals with developmental disabilities in Northwest Ohio, including the Maumee campus. You will assist with daily activities, routines, and community outings to promote meaningful, independent living.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and the ability to pass background checks.

Qualifications

• Direct care and DSP experience preferred but not required.
• Background in STNA/CNA or similar healthcare roles is beneficial.
• Experience with respiratory or medical support is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Participating in community outings and activities.
• Building positive relationships with individuals and their families.
• Supporting daily routines and meaningful life experiences.
• Assisting with dressing and grooming.
• Meal preparation and feeding assistance.
• Providing toileting and personal hygiene support.

Preferred Experience Includes

• Direct Care Experience
• STNA (State Tested Nursing Assistant) / CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) background

• Building positive relationships with individuals and their families
• Supporting daily routines and meaningful life experiences
• Assisting with dressing and grooming
• Meal preparation and feeding assistance
• Providing toileting and personal hygiene support
• Assisting with bathing and showering
• Administering medications as trained and authorized
• Providing companionship, encouragement, and emotional support
• Assisting with repositioning and mobility needs
• Maintaining a clean and safe environment, including laundry, changing linens, kitchen upkeep, and general housekeeping
• Completing documentation and other assigned duties as needed

Requirements

• Prior direct care, caregiving, and DSP experience preferred, but not required
• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Driver’s License with a good driving record
• Proof of auto insurance
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Ability to pass a criminal background check, drug screening, physical examination, and physical therapy assessment
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
