Job summary

Merakey is seeking a Direct Support Professional Specialized/Dual Diagnosis (DSP) to join our team at the Cresson, PA program. The DSP will support individuals with IDD and co-occurring mental health issues, using counseling, mentoring, coaching, modeling and other trained strategies to enhance quality of life and promote growth.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, be at least 21, hold a valid driver's license, and have 1–3 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Verifiable high school diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• 1–3 years experience with people with developmental disabilities and/or co-occurring mental health issues.
• NADD DSP certification training during the first year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and signs of serious mental illness.
• Use counseling, mentoring, coaching, modeling and other strategies to help individuals reach their highest potential.

The Direct Care Professional (DSP) Specialized is responsible for supporting and enhancing the quality of life for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). A DSP Specialized should use counseling, mentoring, coaching, modeling, and other trained strategies to assist individuals in reaching their highest potential. This role will support individuals with IDD, signs and symptoms of serious mental illness, Autism and/or medical conditions which some could be the underlying causes of behavior.
