The Arc Ontario in Geneva, NY is seeking a full-time Direct Support Professional for residential services. You will help individuals with daily living, personal care, and community outings in a supportive home environment.

Responsibilities include hands-on assistance, training, and promoting independence while aligning with the agency’s mission and values.

Qualifications

• Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in written form.
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
• 18 years old or older.
• One year of relevant experience or equivalent education/experience preferred.

• Provides hands-on assistance, instruction, and training to individuals which will enable them to develop and/or acquire skills in various aspects of daily living which may include communication, social, recreational, and leisure activities, self or personal care, household management, travel, work-related or vocational opportunities, money management, etc. in accordance with an individualized plan of service, and following all safety considerations.
• Provides training opportunities designed to enhance each person's self-sufficiency in the areas of independent living

Requirements

• 18 years old
• HS Diploma or GED preferred and one year of relevant experience or an equivalent amount of education/and or experience preferred
• If driving is required, reliable means of transportation, NYS driver's license and safe driving record for 1 full year prior to hire date
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form
