Job summary

Catholic Charities of Baltimore – Gallagher Services is hiring a Direct Support Professional to help adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities live meaningful, independent lives. The role emphasizes care, companionship, and building trust with participants in daily activities.

You’ll support routines, meals, transportation, and personal care, ensuring safety and dignity while promoting choice. A driver’s license and MT training are valued assets.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Valid driver’s license with at least 2 years of driving experience and no more than 3 points.
• Completion of Medication Technician Training Program (or willingness to complete).

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily routines to promote dignity and independence.
• Support meals and kitchen cleanliness while encouraging healthy choices.
• Be patient and respectful in action and speech.
• Advocate for rights and help build confidence and self-esteem.
• Maintain clear, respectful records for continuity of care.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, stand for long periods, and provide physical assistance when needed.

PAY RANGE: $20 - $20.50 per hour (Depending on years of experience and certifications)

We are seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) who values people for who they are and is excited to walk alongside adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities as they engage in the activities they love and pursue their goals.

A Day in the Life:

You’ll spend your days assisting with care to a group of people who enjoy:

• Listening to music
• Going out to eat
• Going to concerts
• Going to the park
• Watching Sports
• Going to the beach

How You’ll Support:

• Support with daily routines such as bathing, dressing, and personal care in a way that promotes dignity, independence, and choice.
• Support people in preparing meals of their choice, encouraging healthy eating habits, and maintaining a clean and comfortable kitchen environment—while promoting independence and personal preferences.
• Be patient and respectful in action and speaking
• Advocate for each person’s rights and help build their confidence and sense of self
• Keep clear, respectful records to ensure continuity of care and support
• Must be at least 21 years old
• Valid driver’s license with at least 2 years of driving experience and no more than 3 points
• Comfortable driving agency vehicles and assisting people who use wheelchairs
• Able to lift up to 75 pounds, stand for long periods, and provide physical assistance when needed
• Completion of Medication Technician Training Program (or willingness to complete)
