Job summary

The Salvation Army in New York, NY seeks a dedicated residential aide to maintain a safe, home-like environment and support residents with daily living skills. You will document progress, coordinate medications, and assist with transportation to appointments and activities.

You will participate in interdisciplinary meetings and ensure compliance with policies, charting accurate records while promoting residents' autonomy and dignity.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; an Associate degree is preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication; ability to learn computerized systems.
• Respect for residents and willingness to work as part of a team.
• Experience in medical care or interactions with medical professionals preferred.
• Must pass AMAP certification and maintain it; valid driver’s license required.
• CPR and First Aid certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provides a safe, clean, and home-like environment and informs program management of needs.
• Communicates with program managers about incidents and rights violations per policy.
• Develops ADL and independent living skills with residents.
• Maintains records on resident development, progress, and related information.
• Manages medication administration records and medications per doctor orders.
• Schedules and ensures follow-ups for medical appointments and treatments.
• Participates in treatment meetings and resident reviews.
• Provides habilitation services as per service plans.
• Assist in transporting residents to programs, appointments, and activities.
• Supports residents in daily living, domestics, recreation, and socialization.
• Notifies management of deficiencies or abuse; ensures continuity of care.
• Assists with meals, nutrition, and household duties as needed.
• Maintains funds for residents as assigned and escorts to medical appointments.
• Completes required forms and communicates with nursing staff and supervisors.
