Job summary

Redwood Family Care Network in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a Part-Time Direct Support Professional to enhance the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities. Promote health, safety, and well-being while advocating for clients to live with dignity and independence.

The role supports daily routines, IPP/ISP goals, and social engagement, with responsibilities including personal care, meal prep, and transportation as needed. Background checks are required.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must have at least 1 year of professional or personal caregiving experience (preferred in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or mental illnesses with challenging behaviors).
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must have a California Driver’s License.
• Candidates must pass all pre-employment requirements, including a background check.

Responsibilities

• Outline and prepare daily routines for clients as written in IPP/ISP goals.
• Support residents' needs and goals by participating in IPP/ISP development.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment for clients.
• Accompany clients to visits with family/friends and to leisure activities; encourage socialization.
• Assist with personal care such as grooming and bathroom needs.
• Prepare daily meals and assist with cleanup.
• Transport clients in company vans if necessary.
• Report incidents and communicate with administrators daily.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Here’s What You’ll Do:

The Direct Support Professional plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities. By promoting their health, safety, and overall well-being, they ensure residents receive compassionate and consistent care. In addition, the Direct Support Professional serves as a dedicated advocate, supporting and empowering clients to live with dignity and independence.

Essential Functions

• Outline and prepare daily routine(s) for clients' (visual and active) as written in Individual Program Plan.
• Support the needs and goals of each resident by participating in the development of IPP/ISP goals.
• Maintain a clean, safe and healthy environment for the clients.
• Support the needs and goals of each resident by taking them to visit family and friends, to preferred leisure/recreation activities, and encouraging them to socialize among peers.
• Assist clients with personal care such as grooming, bathroom needs, changing clients' undergarments and/or clothing if needed.
• Prepare daily meals and assist with clean-up.
• Pick-up/drop-off clients in company vans from/to their home/facility (if necessary).
• Report any incidents or problems and communicate daily with administers.
• Perform other duties assigned.

Education and Experience:

• Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent
• Must have at least 1 year of professional or personal experience in caregiving (Preferred experience in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or mental illnesses with challenging behaviors)
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Must have a California Driver’s License
• Candidates must successfully pass all pre-employment requirements, including but not limited to a background check.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to push, pull or lift up to 30lbs.
• Able to work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
