The Arc Eastern Connecticut in Danielson, CT is hiring Direct Support Professionals. The role focuses on delivering training, support, and independence-building for individuals with IDD in residential, daytime, and community settings.

Schedule includes evenings and weekends (Sat–Mon 3:00 pm–11:00 pm; Thu–Fri 1:00 pm–9:00 pm) at Danielson, CT work location. Excellent benefits and meaningful service are offered.

Qualifications

• Prior experience working with people who have developmental or physical disabilities is preferred.
• Ability to mentor and assist people in life skills including recreation, independence, communication, and health.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Must be able to speak and write in English.

Responsibilities

• Deliver training, support, and assistance in personal care, recreation, daily living, social skills, and health needs.
• Contribute to the individualized support plan with observations to tailor effective goals.
• Accurately administer prescribed medications as ordered by physicians.
• Complete required documentation such as logs, health records, and incident reports.
• Ensure health and safety, perform CPR/First Aid, and evacuate participants in emergencies.
• Provide transportation to activities and prepare meals per menus.
• Mentor participants in life skills and promote independence and rights.
