Job summary

The Arc Eastern Connecticut is seeking Direct Support Professionals to help individuals with developmental disabilities achieve independence in Pomfret, CT.

Responsibilities include training, documentation, medication administration, transportation, meal preparation, and promoting health and safety. We offer paid training, benefits, and opportunities for advancement; starting wage $20.20 per hour, with weekend-focused schedules.

Qualifications

• Experience with people who have developmental and physical disabilities preferred.
• Ability to mentor and assist in life skills including recreation, independence, communication, and health.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• High School Diploma or GED Required.
• Speak/write in English.

Responsibilities

• Deliver training, support, and assistance in personal care, recreation, daily living, social skills, health needs, rights, and behavior management.
• Participate in design, implementation and monitoring of individualized support plans with input from observations.
• Accurately administer prescribed medications as ordered by physicians.
• Complete required documentation: program data, incident reports, daily logs, progress notes, health records.
• Ensure health and safety, including prevention of abuse, CPR, First Aid, Heimlich, and evacuations as needed.
• Provide transportation to recreational and community activities; prepare meals per published menus.
