Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, seeks Direct Support Professionals for Midlands Regional Center in Columbia, SC. You will support individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, promote daily living skills, and ensure safety and wellness.

This full-time role offers a $1,000 sign-on bonus, potential overtime, up to $3.50/hour shift differential, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or GED.
• Basic computer skills to include the use of Therap and SCEIS Central for time and leave purposes.
• Knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations and basic safety practices.
• A valid Driver's License.
• Physical abilities including lifting, pushing, standing, stooping, kneeling, and running.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health and safety of each consumer while following the BSP, dining protocol, lifting protocol, and training programs.
• Transport and monitor consumers to and from off-campus appointments and activities.
• Complete data collection and maintain documentation per policies.
• Report significant events and suspected abuse per procedures.
• Work as part of an interdisciplinary team and participate in meetings.
