Job summary

Seven Hills Foundation is seeking a Direct Support Professional I - Respite in Providence, RI to provide one-to-one care for children with special health care needs.

The role is a regular part-time position offering a $19.00 hourly wage, flexible schedule (as needed by family, approx. five hours per week), and opportunities to support families in-home or in community settings. A high school diploma and valid driver's license are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license (class C or D) required.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one direct care for children with special health care needs per the family plan.
• Offer socialization opportunities inside or outside the home when appropriate.
• Provide respite to families, giving them relief from caregiving duties.
• Complete timesheets and incident reports promptly for coordinator.
• Occasionally transport participants to activities as approved by the family.

Direct Support Professional I - Respite

Pay: $19.00 per hour

Schedule: As needed by family, five hours per week.

The Respite worker provides families of children with special health care needs a relief from their responsibilities by providing one to one direct care for their child within or outside the home by implementing a safety and service plan. All duties will vary depending on the specific needs of each child. Parent/caretaker will provide all training specific to their child. Safety plan must be reviewed and implemented when necessary. What You'll Do:

• Provide safe one to one care per the plan for children with special health care needs as directed by parents/caretakers. Exceptions made when providing respite to siblings who receive respite services.
• Provide socialization opportunities within home and/or outside of home when appropriate.
• Provide family with a relief from caring for their child with special health care needs.
• Perform all necessary self-care tasks as needed by the individual supported.
• Provide transportation to and from all social activities only as approved by parent/caretaker.
• Carry out specific tasks outlined in the respite safety and service plan.
• Provide required documentation to coordinator in a timely manner (timesheets and incident reports, if needed).
• ON CALL – as needed per approved hours and parent request.
• Contribute to the positive morale by representing the agency through professional communication and interactions
• Arrive punctually and participates in all required meetings and trainings.
• Drive people to destinations necessary for them to experience a full and diversified life, following all safety and legal regulations.
• Provide support to other areas of the agency, as needed.
• Respond effectively to potential safety hazards and emergencies.
• Maintain a clean, orderly and safe environment by being respectful of property and equipment. Follow proper maintenance instructions.
• Report incidents as required by regulations.
• Ensure workplace safety. Perform other duties as assigned.
