Sunbreak Society in Oregon is seeking a compassionate Direct Support Professional (DSP) 1 to join our team. You will support individuals with developmental disabilities, promoting independence, safety, and a higher quality of life in daily activities.

Responsibilities include personal care, meal preparation, medication support, following behavior plans, and maintaining accurate records. You will collaborate with families and healthcare providers across Deschutes, Crook Counties including

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in direct care is a plus, but not required.
• Must be patient, empathetic, and passionate about helping others.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Must pass background check.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required for some positions.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and medication management.
• Follow behavior support plans.
• Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering positive relationships and enhancing their quality of life.
• Encourage and support clients in developing life skills and achieving personal goals.
• Ensure the safety and security of clients in all activities, including transportation and outings.
• Maintain accurate records of services provided, client progress, and any incidents or changes in client status.
• Collaborate with the client’s family, support team, and healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care and support.
• Participate in training and professional development to stay current with best practices in the field of support services.
