Job summary

Sunbreak Society is seeking a compassionate Direct Support Professional (DSP) to assist individuals with developmental disabilities in Roseburg, Oregon. This role focuses on promoting independence, safety, and well-being while following behavior support plans and collaborating with families and care teams.

Starting pay up to $26/hr for candidates with OIS certification and experience with challenging behaviors; other staff will be placed at competitive rates based on location and experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in direct care, healthcare, or similar fields is a plus.
• Must be patient, empathetic, and passionate about helping others.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to lift and assist clients as needed.
• Must pass background check.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required.
• Demonstrated prior experience supporting individuals with challenging and/or complex behavior.
• Current OIS (Oregon Intervention System) Training – Required (we can certify).
• Evening and Weekend availability desired.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and medication management.
• Follow behavior support plans.
• Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering positive relationships and enhancing their quality of life.
• Encourage and support clients in developing life skills and achieving personal goals.
• Ensure the safety and security of clients in all activities, including during transportation and outings.
• Maintain accurate records of services provided, client progress, and any incidents or changes in client status.
• Collaborate with the client’s family, support team, and healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care and support.
• Participate in training and professional development to stay current with best practices in the field of support services.
