Job summary

Sunbreak Society is seeking a compassionate Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support individuals with developmental disabilities, promoting independence, safety, and empowerment in daily activities.

This role covers the Cloverdale/Beaver OR coast region (Pacific City to Tillamook); benefits include comprehensive health coverage, paid training, 401k matching, PTO, and career growth opportunities. Driving reimbursement and flexible days are available where applicable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in direct care is a plus but not required.
• Must be patient, empathetic, and passionate about helping others.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to lift and assist clients as needed.
• Must pass background check.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required for certain positions.
• Desired: experience supporting individuals with challenging/complex behavior.
• Desired: evening and weekend availability.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and medication management.
• Follow behavior support plans.
• Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering positive relationships and enhancing their quality of life.
• Encourage and support clients in developing life skills and achieving personal goals.
• Ensure the safety and security of clients in all activities, including transportation and outings.
• Maintain accurate records of services provided, client progress, and any incidents or changes in client status.
• Collaborate with the client’s family, support team, and healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care and support.
• Participate in training and professional development to stay current with best practices in the field of support services.
