Seven Hills Foundation’s Stetson School in Barre, MA is seeking a Direct Support Professional I - Child Care Specialist. You will provide direct care, supervise students, and implement a trauma‑informed treatment approach daily.

You’ll teach life skills, support routines, and maintain safety while building constructive relationships with youth. The role emphasizes communication, documentation, and teamwork to foster positive outcomes.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in field related to human services or 6 months experience.
• Massachusetts driver’s license – class C or class D.
• High school diploma or GED required for Stetson School roles.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety, supervision, and well‑being of students at all times.
• Build positive, professional relationships while maintaining boundaries.
• Teach and reinforce healthy behaviors, hygiene, and life skills.
• Support a trauma-informed treatment approach (ACORN model).
• Supervise students with constant visual and auditory awareness.
• Facilitate daily schedules, activities, and transitions.
• Conduct routine room checks and safety monitoring.
• Transport students to appointments and activities as needed.
• Respond to behaviors using CPI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) techniques.
• Use de-escalation strategies and approved physical interventions.
• Promote positive behavior, self-regulation, and social development.
• Lead and participate in recreational and skill-building activities.
• Serve as a role model for appropriate social interactions.
• Support students in family connections and communication.
• Complete shift notes, reports, and required documentation accurately.
• Communicate incidents, concerns, and updates to supervisors.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment.
• Support students with daily living tasks and housekeeping.
• Respond appropriately to illness, injury, or emergencies.

What You’ll Do:
