Job summary

YAI is hiring a Direct Support Professional in Brooklyn for our Cypress Hills (East New York) locations. The DSP will provide direct care, assist with daily living activities, and help people with intellectual and developmental disabilities live more independent lives.

Responsibilities include health and safety oversight, community integration, and documenting progress. A high school diploma or GED and a NYS driver's license are preferred; some roles require DSP2 experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid NYS Driver’s License required for most positions.
• Work experience in the I/DD field is a plus, but not mandatory (DSP1).
• Good written and verbal communication.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Tuberculosis test and background check mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care services as needed.
• Assist with ADLs and other supportive tasks.
• Ensure health, safety, and wellness of the people supported.
• Support intimate care when needed and build positive relationships.
• Participate in treatment plan development and documentation for compliance.
