Job summary

YAI is hiring a Direct Support Professional in Brooklyn for Cypress Hills and East New York locations. The role supports people with I/DD across homes, family settings and community activities.

The DSP will provide direct care, build relationships, assist with treatment plans and document care. Flexible full-time or part-time schedules with day, evening and overnight shifts are available.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid NYS Driver’s License required for most positions.
• 2 years’ experience in I/DD field for DSP 2 positions.
• Good written and verbal communication.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Tuberculosis test and background check mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care services including counseling, ADLs and personal care.
• Ensure the health, safety, and wellness of the people we support.
• Support intimate care functions as needed.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and families.
• Participate in development of treatment plans.
• Perform crisis intervention and management as required.
• Complete mandatory training (AMAP, CPR/First Aid, SCIP-R, Defensive Driving).
• Document for compliance and billing and train team members.
• Facilitate community integration, recreation and socialization.
