Job summary

Dungarvin is seeking a Direct Support Professional Float (DSPF) to provide fill-in coverage at assigned service sites, delivering direct support and instruction to individuals with mental, intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities. You may be scheduled for hours vacant due to turnover, changes, or PTO, empowering clients to live independently with dignity and respect.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Person-centered, patient, and kind.
  • Dependable, adaptable, and flexible.
  • Observant and detail-oriented.
  • Positive role model who can work on a team.
  • Committed to a respectful, collaborative environment.
  • Computer skills for documentation.
  • Valid driver’s license (required for transporting persons served). Some positions may require owning a personal vehicle and auto-liability insurance.
  • A successful background clearance is required as part of onboarding.
  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Strong communication skills—reading, writing, and documenting care plans and collaborating with internal and external team members.

  • Ensure the comfort, safety, and personal growth of the individuals served.
  • Assist with daily living tasks such as moving around, getting in and out of bed, dressing, bathing, and personal hygiene.
  • Perform light housekeeping and meal preparation.
  • Build relationships with persons served and teammates.
  • Attend community occasions and social activities like outdoor walks and games.
  • Transport persons served to appointments or other activities outside the home.
  • Help empower people with disabilities to live life to the fullest.
  • Document progress, milestones, and action steps.

Job Description

A Direct Support Professional Float (DSPF) caregiver provides fill‑in or substitute coverage at any assigned service site and may be scheduled for hours that are vacant due to staff turnover, scheduling changes, or paid time off. The DSP Float delivers direct support, positive direction, and instruction to individuals with mental, intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities, ultimately empowering them to live as independently and comfortably as possible while maintaining dignity and respect.
