Job summary

Elwyn is seeking a dedicated Direct Support Professional in California for a part-time role. The position involves supervising residents, assisting with daily living activities, and implementing health and behavior care plans to promote independence and safety.

You will work within an interdisciplinary team to support individualized service plans and resident well-being. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, relevant trainings, and a valid driver’s license with a clean record.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Successful completion of all trainings as required by regulations.
• One year experience in a program serving persons with developmental disabilities preferred.
• DOJ and FBI fingerprint and criminal clearance required.
• Health screening with clear TB test within 1 year prior to hire or within 7 days after hire.
• Valid driver's license with at least two years of driving experience in the United States and clean driving record.
• Complete required trainings: DSP1, DSP2, First Aid, CPR/AED.

Responsibilities

• Assists and teaches residents self-care and activities of daily living.
• Maintains safety and supervision of residents at all times.
• Implements Behavior Plans and Health Care Plans.
• Participates in Interdisciplinary Team for ISP/IPP outcomes and programming.
• Engages residents in occupational, recreational, vocational, and therapeutic programs.
• Ensures a safe, sanitary, and therapeutic environment respecting privacy and dignity.
• Supervises during dining and activities and reports changes in care needs.
• Transports residents to medical or recreational appointments.
• Attends staff trainings and completes required certifications.
