Job summary

Elwyn California seeks a Direct Support Professional to provide assistance and supervise residents in activities of daily living and implement Behavior Support and Health Care Plans.

You will be part of an interdisciplinary team, document plans, support learning leisure activities, and transport residents to appointments, while maintaining safety and dignity.

This role requires a high school diploma, required trainings, and a valid CA driver’s license; DOJ/FBI checks are mandatory.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Successful completion of all trainings as required by applicable regulations.
• One year experience in a program serving persons with developmental disabilities preferred.
• DOJ and FBI fingerprint and criminal clearance required.
• Valid health screening with clear TB test within 1 year prior to hire.
• Must possess a current, valid driver’s license with at least two years of driving experience and acceptable driving record.
• Must complete trainings including DSP1, DSP2, First Aid, CPR/AED upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Assists and teaches residents self-care and daily living activities.
• Maintains safety and supervision of residents at all times.
• Implements Behavior Plans and Health Care Plans.
• Member of the Interdisciplinary Team in ISP/IPP outcomes and programming.
• Assists residents in occupational, recreational, vocational, and therapeutic programs.
• Maintains a safe, sanitary, therapeutic environment that respects residents’ dignity and privacy.
• Engages residents in learning activities and tailored skills.
• Assists with leisure activities and encourages participation in planned recreation.
• Supervises during meals, activities, and appointments; reports changes to supervisors.
• Transports residents to medical or recreational appointments in the company vehicle.
