Job summary

Makom is hiring Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in Maryland to empower individuals with IDD to lead self-determined, meaningful lives. You will work as part of a mission-driven team, delivering person-centered support and community engagement within a supportive, values-driven culture.

Responsibilities include assisting with ADLs/IADLs, skill development, safety and health compliance, and collaboration with families and partners. Competitive wages reflect experience and qualifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; further education in human services or related field is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Proficiency with Microsoft applications and general computer skills.
• Maintain professionalism and positive relationships with individuals, families, colleagues, and external partners.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds with assistance.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized support based on each person’s skills, aspirations, and needs; help individuals lead self-directed lives in their communities.
• Support skill-building and personal growth per PCP/ISP plans.
• Facilitate community engagement to build social networks and pursue meaningful activities.
• Offer coaching for Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and IADLs tailored to each person.
• Help ensure living environments are clean, safe and compliant with care plans.
• Adapt approaches as needs evolve within the support team.
