Makom in Maryland is seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to help individuals with IDD achieve self-determined, meaningful lives by engaging with their communities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; further education in human services is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Proficiency with Microsoft applications and general computer skills.
• Maintain professionalism and positive relationships with individuals, families, colleagues, and external partners.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds with assistance and kneel to provide hands-on support.

Responsibilities

• Provide Person-Centered Support based on each person’s unique skills, aspirations, and needs.
• Support skill-building aligned with PCP/ISP.
• Facilitate community engagement to build social networks and pursue meaningful activities.
• Provide coaching for Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and Instrumental ADLs (IADLs).
• Ensure living and working environments are clean, safe, and compliant with care plans.
• Adapt to evolving needs as a key member of the support team.
