Job summary

Arc of Acadiana is seeking a Direct Support Professional to assist residents in Community Group Homes, helping with daily living, health monitoring, and community activities. You’ll work closely with a team to promote safety, dignity, and independence in a home-like setting, with training and supervision provided.

The role requires at least a high school diploma, 21+ years of age, reliable teamwork, and a valid driver’s license for transportation duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Previous direct support, caregiving, or similar experience preferred.
• Ability to work evenings, nights, weekends, holidays.
• Valid driver’s license required for transportation duties.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding, mobility, personal hygiene).
• Encourage independence and participation while providing supervision and support.
• Support residents in building daily living, social, and functional skills per individual plans.
• Remain with residents during shifts and follow safety procedures and emergency protocols.
• Assist with medication administration after required training and certification.
• Complete documentation accurately and on time (progress notes, logs, reports).
• Support community participation and transportation using Arc of Acadiana vehicles.
• Collaborate with Home Managers, supervisors, and fellow DSPs; participate in trainings.
