Job summary

Arc of Acadiana seeks a Direct Support Professional to provide person-centered home and community-based support in Lafayette, LA. You will implement individualized plans, assist with daily living tasks, and promote participant independence and community inclusion.

Shifts include daytime, evening, overnight, and weekends to meet participant needs. You will document progress, communicate with families and supervisors, and follow safety and confidentiality requirements while building skills and

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Related experience in human services or caregiving preferred.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to person-centered support and participant dignity.
• Reliable, patient and compassionate in supporting others.
• Ability to observe, document, and report information.
• Valid driver’s license may be required depending on assignment.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized support based on participant goals and daily routines.
• Assist with activities of daily living and in-home supports as needed.
• Encourage participants to make choices and develop independence.
• Support participants in developing daily living, social, and community skills.
• Promote meaningful participation during community outings and activities.
• Accurately complete service notes, progress notes, and documentation.
• Maintain participant confidentiality and follow safety protocols.
