Job summary

The New York Foundling is a nonprofit organization in New York, providing developmental disability services and family support programs. This role is within the Developmental Division, focused on enabling individuals to live independently and engage in the community.

Responsibilities include supervision, safety, care-plan implementation, medication administration, daily living skills support, and collaboration with clinical staff to promote wellbeing and growth.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• AMAP, SCIP, CPR, and First Aid Certifications preferred.
• Valid NY/NJ/CT/PA Driver’s License with 6 points or less required.
• Experience working with adults that have developmental disabilities.
• Demonstrated strong commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

• Ensure supervision and safety of individuals; implement care plans.
• Advocate for individuals in medical and community activities.
• Ensure care plans are implemented.
• Administer medications as prescribed.
• Assist in daily living skills and maintain facility per regulatory standards.
• Facilitate fire safety training.
• Document goals and progress.
• Complete daily progress notes and logs.
• Maintain CPR/First Aid, SCIP, and AMAP certifications.
• Provide a positive environment for behavior.
• Observe and report behavior; liaise with clinical staff.
• Plan and prepare balanced meals.
• Clean and maintain the residential unit.
• Assist with groceries, clothing, hygiene supplies, and shopping.
• Attend trainings and workshops.
• Support spiritual development and ethics.
