Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required; direct care experience preferred.
• Valid NY/NJ/CT/PA driver’s license with up to 6 points.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; patience and empathy.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred; additional training is a plus.
• Commitment to compassionate care and dignity for individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Ability to adapt to changing needs and environments; maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor plans of care, including various formal plans.
• Provide direct care and assistance in activities of daily living and medications.
• Facilitate community outings and social events for inclusion and independence.
• Address challenging behaviors with person-centered strategies and safety.
• Maintain records, progress notes, and incident reports accurately.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals, therapists, and families.
• Advocate for rights and promote self-advocacy; act as mandated reporter.
• Administer medications as prescribed and monitor for side effects.
