Job summary

The New York Foundling is seeking a Direct Support Professional to empower individuals with developmental disabilities toward greater independence. You will provide personalized support, assist with daily living tasks, and help clients build social and life skills in a caring environment.

Responsibilities include implementing care plans, documenting progress, coordinating with healthcare professionals, and ensuring safety and dignity in all interactions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in direct care or human services preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support persons with developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Empower persons with developmental disabilities to live fulfilling lives by providing personalized support and fostering independence.
• Implement and monitor plans of care, including behavior support and life plans, and assist with daily living activities.
• Facilitate community outings and social events to promote inclusion and meaningful interactions with peers and the community.
• Provide supervision and support for medical, developmental, clinical, or emotional needs as required.
• Maintain accurate records, progress notes, and incident reports in compliance with policies.
