Job summary

Ardmore Enterprises seeks a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities live fulfilling lives in their own homes and participate in community activities. You will provide day-to-day support, promote person-centered planning, and help residents achieve personal goals through engaged daily living and community outings.

The role emphasizes teamwork, advocacy, and a compassionate, can-do attitude.

Qualifications

• Earned High School Diploma or GED from an accredited educational institution.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Able to communicate effectively with the individuals to whom services are provided.
• Experience in a residential setting serving people with intellectual/developmental disabilities or with other types of special needs populations (rehabilitation settings, nursing homes, psychiatric hospitals, other behavioral health settings, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Support individuals in achieving their personal goals and fulfilling their dreams by having a “person-centered” focus.
• Teach independent living and daily skills to the persons-served by identifying and meeting social, environmental, and health care needs such as daily grooming and personal care routines.
• Actively plans, coordinates, and participates with residents in social activities including frequent community outings.
• Instructs, supports and participates in performing household tasks with persons served such as cleaning, preparing meals, food shopping, etc.
