Job summary

Alternatives, Inc. in Raritan, NJ seeks a full-time Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support adults with developmental disabilities in a day program setting. You will help clients live as independently as possible, implement behavioral plans, and lead community activities to improve quality of life.

You’ll join a team that values dignity and respect, with paid training, mileage reimbursement, yearly raises, and the option for PSLF loan forgiveness, plus health and wellness events and more.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Ability to pass criminal/registry background checks and a drug screen.
• TB screening must be clear.
• Must pass trainings such as CPR/first aid, medication administration, and positive behavioral support.
• Basic computer skills.
• Experience with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Help adults with developmental disabilities live their best lives as independently as possible.
• Assist in implementing individual behavioral plans and use teaching/mentoring to build skills.
• Encourage interests and drive clients to community outings and recreational activities.
• Report concerns about health and safety and keep documentation up-to-date.
