Job summary

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) role at ICL provides direct care to adults with developmental and/or physical disabilities in a residential setting. Under supervision, DSPs assist with daily living, skills development, and community integration to promote independence.

Required certifications include AMAP, SCIP-R, CPR/First Aid, and a NY driver’s license. The position offers competitive benefits and a supportive environment with schedule variations depending on program location.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Direct Support Professional (DSP) Certificate required or obtained within 6 months.
• AMAP, SCIP-R, CPR and First Aid certifications required or obtainable within 6 months.
• Valid NY Driver’s License with clean record (may be required).
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care and health support including medication administration (per AMAP).
• Support nutrition, meal preparation, safe food handling, and social dining skills.
• Maintain a safe, clean residential environment and conduct basic maintenance tasks.
• Promote independence, community integration, and skill-building.
• Encourage interpersonal relationships, money management, and leisure activities.
• Observe, document, and report progress; participate in planning and meetings.
• Apply behavior management techniques and respond to emergencies.
